The 2010 PGA Championship will get underway in Kohler, Wisconsin at the Whistling Straits golf resort this weekend. As most of you know, this is the final major of the PGA Tour in 2010 and it should be interesting to say the least. Whistling Straits boasts two golf courses, but only the Straits Course is going to be used this weekend. Visit our Golf Betting page for tips on how to bet online & win more money.

The Straits Course is a 72-par course that stretches 7502 total yards with hundreds of bunkers scattered on every hole. Last year proved to be difficult for the golfers, as a score of –8 tied for 1st place after 4 rounds of golf. I expect the final score to be a little bit higher this year, but I can also see many of the golfers struggling again.

This golf course, although in Wisconsin, USA is ideal for golfers from Europe due to the design. I expect many Europeans near the top of the leaderboard this weekend, but there’s no doubt that the Americans are going to be fighting to win the last major of the season on their own turf. 2010 PGA Championship Odds & Predictions

  • Sean O’Hair +3500 looked great last week in the Bridgestone Invitational, as he finished in 5th place. He was tied in the lead going into the final round of play last weekend, but he dropped a few shots and was unable to recover. O’Hair has been near the top of the leaderboard on several occasions this season and I can see him finishing in the top 5 this weekend at Whistling Straits.
  • Phil Mickelson +1200 will provide a nice safety net for many handicappers this weekend. He looked good last weekend until he literally fell apart in the last round of the tournament. I have never seen Mickelson look so bad in a round of golf before and I expect him to bounce back this weekend to try and end the final major of the season on a good note. Phil can also take over Woods as the #1 golfer in the world with a solid performance.
  • Padraig Harrington +1800 is one of the Europeans that most handicappers think will have success this weekend. He has had an up and down season in 2010, but he did look good the past couple weeks in Ireland and at Bridgestone. The odds on Harrington have been falling all week, so I’d jump on him now if you were thinking about betting on him. This course is going to fit well with his style of golf and I’m sure he’s going to do his best to try and win the PGA Championship.

There hasn’t been much talk about Tiger Woods winning the tournament this weekend and that’s because his awful finish last week at Bridgestone. The odds are currently at +1350 on Woods and I don’t think he should be one of the favourites heading into Whistling Straits. A couple of other golfers that you’re going to need to watch out for this weekend include Rory McIlroy (+1600), Steve Stricker (+2500), Jim Furyk (+3500), Ernie Els (+3000) and Retief Goosen (+3300).
