Saints vs. Packers

The New Orleans Saints face up against the Green Bay Packers on September 8th, 2011 – week 1 of the 2011 NFL season. The game will be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, at 8:30 pm ET. The game will be televised on NBC.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints had a very respectable 11-5 record in the 2010-2011 NFL regular season. However, they were upset by the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, losing 41-36.

For the 2011 – 2012 NFL season, another early playoff loss would be a disappointing result for the Saints. While it’s all about Super Bowl wins, I think the Saints could call it a successful season if they can get into the NFC Conference game.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers went 10-6 during the regular season. Also a Wild Card team, the Packers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 21-16 to get into the NFC Divisional game. In the NFC Divisional game, the Packers trounced the Atlanta Falcons 48-21. Then it was on to the NFC Conference Championship game against the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers took a 21-14 victory over the Bears, winning a chance to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. The Packers went on to beat the Steelers 31-25 as they took down their fourth Super Bowl Championship.

If the Green Bay Packers can find a way to win Super Bowl XLVI in 2012, they would be the first to win back-to-back Super Bowl’s since the New England Patriots did it in 2004 & 2005.

Packers vs. Saints Previous Game

The Saints and Packers haven’t played each other since 2008 when the Saints rolled the Packers 51-29. Coming off their 2011 Super Bowl victory, I’m expecting the Packers to return the favor in week 1.
