Steelers at Broncos Betting Lines: 2011 – 2012 AFC Wild Card

At 1:00 pm ET, we have the Falcons vs. Giants game, then at 4:30 we have this Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos game. Although everyone expects the Steelers to come out of Denver with the win, many are wondering if Tim Tebow has any magic left. The funny thing is, if the Broncos defense can step up and keep the game close, the Broncos actually have a shot to win.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is still injured, and reports are that he’s still feeling a lot of pain. If the Broncos defense can get to Big Ben and put some hurt on him, the Steelers might have no choice but to replace him with Charlie Batch.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Denver Broncos Point Spread Bets

At the time this article is being written (Saturday, 3:00am ET), the Pittsburgh Steelers point spread is -9 (-105) at BetOnline, and -8.5 (-110) at JustBet. The Broncos point spread is +9 (-115) at BetOnline, and +8.5 (-110) at JustBet.

I fully expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to win this game, but I’m not convinced they’ll cover the point spread. If the Broncos defense can play up to their capabilities, this could be a low scoring game on both sides. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game ends with a score in the range of 20-13, which wouldn’t get the job done.

I’m going to bet on the Denver Broncos to cover the spread, and get them at +9 (-115) at BetOnline.com.

Steelers at Broncos Money Line

The best Steelers money line is currently -400 at BetOnline and JustBet. The best Broncos money line is +330 at BetOnline.

If I knew which Broncos defense was going to show up for this game, it would make it much easier to know if we’ve got value here. Unfortunately, this defense comes & goes, making it tougher to predict. Also, if Ben Roethlisberger and/or the rest of the team was healthier, that would make this an easier pick as well. With so many injuries on the Pittsburgh Steelers team, it’s hard to say how many points they’ll be able to score.

After their loss in week 17, Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey was vocal with his disappointment in the team. The perennial pro should be able to motivate his defense, but he’ll have to do it without safety Brian Dawkins, and a hurt LB Von Miller. Miller will be playing, but is playing with a hurt thumb that affects his ability to tackle. I suspect he’ll put up with the pain, and give it all of his efforts.

This game has too many unpredictable things going for my taste, so I’m going to stay away from the money line. If the Broncos vs. Steelers betting lines take a big turn before game time, I may reconsider this bet. If I do, I’ll update this post with the value I’m seeing.

Broncos vs. Steelers Over/Under Odds

A day before the game, the Steelers vs. Broncos over/under is 33.5 (-110) on both sides at BetOnline and JustBet. This is a very low over/under, and although this could be a very low scoring game, I think there’s more potential for it to go over. If the Steelers can only manage 20, and the Broncos can only manage 14, this game goes over the total. It’s possible the Broncos could score 0-10 points, but the injury-riddled Steelers defense could create some openings for the Broncos.

I’m taking the over of 33.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com.
