The road show rolls on for Montreal as the Canadiens (19-12-2, 40 pts) visit Dallas to face off against the Stars (20-10-3, 43 pts) on Tuesday night. Game time is 9 pm ET at American Airlines Arena. Both teams are #1 in their respective divisions, so we’re looking for a great game. This is the second of a seven-game road trip for the Canadiens, their longest stay away from the Bell Centre this season. Dallas is favored, at -135 at Sportsbook.com. The over/under is 5.5.

Montreal Canadiens at Dallas Stars Game Preview

This looks like a solid line and good game to take a risk. Montreal is cold and Dallas is hot after defeating Detroit in overtime on Sunday. The Canadiens are coming off a disappointing 3-2 loss in Colorado on Sunday night.

Sniper Mike Cammalleri had a power play goal as did Alexandre Picard but the Habs failed to take advantage of opportunities in the third period. The second and third line players failed to produce points and ended up minus two for the contest. Tomas Plekanec is the team leader in points with 28 while Cammalleri leads in goals with just 12.

Montreal has now lost four of five and is watching its lead over Boston shrink to just two points. Montreal has started seasons well over the past decade but just about this time injuries and fatigue seem to set in. Defenseman Andre Markov is still out while Cammalleri, Plekanex, Scott Gomez, and Andre Kostitsyn all have slowed in their scoring pace. Goaltender Carey Price has been consistent but he may get over worked as Montreal consistently surrenders 30 shots a game. He has started 30 of the team’s 33 games.

Dallas sits atop the Pacific Division and has the top without sparkling statistics. They rank middle or below in the league in most categories: scoring (16th), goals against (10th), power play goals (18th) and 22nd in penalty kills. Top scorer Brad Richards has 38 points on 15 goals and 23 assists. In addition, Loui Eriksson (34 points), James Neal (28 points), Mike Ribeiro (26 points) and Brenden Morrow (20 points) all have solid offensive totals. Backstop Andrew Raycroft has been solid but it has been Kari Lehtonen who has seen the bulk of the work. The Finnish international has 14 wins on the year and a goals against average of 2.58.
