Home: Green Bay Packers (15-1 overall, 8-0 at home)
Away: New York Giants (9-7 overall, 5-3 on the road)
What: NFC Divisional Playoffs
When: Sunday January 15, 2012 at 4:30pm ET
TV: FOX

This NFC Divisional Playoff game is a rematch of the week 13 game these teams played in New York. The Packers won a close contest 38-35, but the Giants look better now. In this game, the New York Giants will be on the road to play the Green Bay Packers. Although the Broncos/Patriots game is getting most of the attention, this could be the best game of the weekend.

Giants vs. Packers Point Spread

At the time this article is being written, the Giants point spread is +8 (-120) at BetOnline.com, and +7.5 (-110) at JustBet.cx. The Packers point spread is -8 (Even) at BetOnline, and -7.5 (-110) at JustBet.

Considering the way the NY Giants defense has been playing in recent weeks, I like them to cover the point spread against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are always a threat to run off a 3 TD win, but I don’t think that’s going to happen in this one. The Giants played the Packers tough in week 13, losing 38-35. Since then, the Giants defense has been stepping up big, giving up just 2 points to the Atlanta Falcons in the Wild Card round.

I’m going with the Giants +8 (-120) at BetOnline, although you can get them at -110 by giving up 1/2 point at JustBet as well. Visit our homepage for the latest Giants vs. Packers betting lines.

NY Giants vs. Green Bay Packers Money Line

The Giants vs. Packers money line has been moving a bit, up and down between -270 to -295 for the Giants, and -335 to -360 for the Packers. So far, it looks like the bettors are split right down the middle, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens as we get closer to game time.

At the time I’m writing this, the best Giants money line is +290 at the BetOnline Sportsbook. The best Packers money line is -335 at the JustBet Sportsbook.

Is -335 giving us value on the Packers money line? It probably is, but the Giants recent defensive play might be telling us otherwise. I’m going to hold off for now, but I see some value on the Giants money line if it gets to +310 or better. I’m not sure we’ll see that number, but I’ll wait and see.

Packers vs. Giants Over/Under

The Packers vs. Giants over/under is 52.5 (-110) on either side at BetOnline and JustBet. I think this will go slightly over, and I’m predicting a final score of 27-24 up to 30-27. I don’t see the Packers holding Eli Manning to fewer than 24, and more likely he’ll be able to put 27 on the board. The Packers will get their points too, even against a tough Giants defense.

So, I’m taking the over of 52.5 (-110).

* The article below was for the week 13 matchup between the Packers & Giants. We’re leaving it up for reference. Fwiw, the Packers won that game 38-35.

Home: New York Giants (6-5 overall, 3-2 at home)
Away: Green Bay Packers (11-0 overall, 6-0 on the road)
When: Week 13. Sunday December 4, 2011 at 4:15pm ET
TV: FOX

For week 13, the seemingly unstoppable Green Bay Packers are on the road to play the New York Giants. The Giants have lost their last three games, while the Packers haven’t lost since the Carter administration.

This is an especially tough week for the Giants, who are trying to keep pace with the Dallas Cowboys (7-4) who should win their game in Arizona this week. Falling another game behind Dallas would make it very difficult for the Giants to find their way back into the playoff hunt. With that said, if the Giants can pull off the miracle win and the Cowboys lose, the Giants will be right back in it. Green Bay has essentially locked up the NFC North, leaving the Bears and Lions to battle it out for a Wild Card birth.

Green Bay Packers vs. NY Giants Analysis & Prediction

Since week 7, the Green Bay Packers offense has scored 33, 45, 45, 35, and 27 points in respective games. Aaron Rodgers has been lighting up defenses all year long, to a league leading +155 points differential and 34.7 points per game. Although their running game is weak, their passing game is fantastic.

The Packers are +15 in takeaways/giveaways, and the defense leads the NFL with 22 interceptions. Not only does that lead the league, but it’s 6 more interceptions than the teams who are tied for second in this statistic. The Packers defense has only caused 3 fumbles this year, but the Giants have the worst rushing game in the NFL. It isn’t likely that the Giants will get their running game on track this week.

Green Bay is an extremely well disciplined team as well, with only 56 penalties for 411 yards this season. Opposing teams cannot expect the Packers to beat themselves. The biggest weakness the Packers have is in their passing defense, which is all or nothing. They give up a lot of yards, but they intercept a lot of passes and don’t give up many points. Your D can give up all the yards they want if they don’t give up touchdowns.

Although the Giants are 6-5 on the season, they have a points differential of -25. They’re scoring 22.9 ppg, but giving up 25.2. The Giants passing offense has been excellent at moving the ball down the field, and Eli Manning is having a very good season. The NY Giants are fourth in the NFC at +7 in takeaways/giveaways.

Beyond the numbers, the Packers defense should do enough to cover the spread. This offense is so effective they beat almost any team in the NFL by two touchdowns on any given day. If they also win the turnover battle, that’s a bonus. I’m predicting a Packers win, and think they’ll cover the spread as well.

Giants vs. Packers Point Spread

The Green Bay Packers are favored by -6 (-110) at the BetOnline Sportsbook I’m all over this one, expecting the Packers to win by at least a touchdown. The Packers are too focused and too good to let the New York crowd stop them from cruising to another easy win. The Giants make too many mistakes, and are simply over-matched in this one, and I love that we can get the Packers point spread at -6 instead of -7. As we get closer to game time, I expect this spread will move to 7 or 7.5, so if you also like the Packers in this one, get your bets in now.

If you prefer the New York Giants and taking the points, you can get +7 (-125) at Bodog, or +6 (-110) at BetOnline. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see another 1/2 point for the Giants before the game begins, so it might be smart to wait before placing your bet on the Giants point spread.

Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants Money Line

I don’t think there is much question who will win this game. Although the game is being played in New York, that’s not a big enough advantage against the Packers. The best Packers money line is -255 at BetOnline.com. I like the Packers money line at -255. I think there is definite value here, and I’ll be on this one.

The best Giants money line is +220 at Bodog.com. +220 doesn’t sound good enough to me because I think the Giants lose this game 4 out of 5 times. I don’t see the value in this money line, but you don’t have to agree with me.

Giants vs. Packers Over/Under Odds

At BetOnline.com, the Giants vs. Packers over/under is 53.5 (-110) on either side. At Bodog.com, the over is 54 (-105), and the under is 54 (-115).

I’m expecting a score in the range of 27-20 up to 35-27. This gives us a range of 47 to 62. This is a slight advantage for the over, but this is a difficult pick. The Packers vs. Giants over/under has been going up all week, and I’ll probably wait until closer to game time before making a pick. I want to see where the over/under goes before I place my bet. If it continues to go up, I’ll take the under. If it stays where it is or drops at all, I’ll take the over.

Bet on Green Bay Packers vs. NY Giants

As I said above, I’ve bet on the Green Bay Packers to cover the point spread of -6 (-110) at BetOnline. I also bet on the Packers money line, seeing value at -255. I’m going to wait before I bet on the over/under, and see where it goes. At the current numbers, the over/under looks like it could go either way. If it gets to 54.5, I’ll bet the under. If it goes down to 53, I’ll bet the over.
