2011 CFL Playoffs Conference Finals Betting

The 2010 CFL Playoffs kicked off this past weekend with the Argonauts defeating the Tiger-Cats and the Roughriders taking down the Lions in the Conference semi-final matchups. This weekend is the 2010 conference finals and it’s sure to be a good weekend for CFL football, as we have two great matchups. The Montreal Alouettes will play the Toronto Argonauts in the Eastern Conference Finals and the Saskatchewan Roughriders will play the Calgary Stampeders in the Western Conference Finals.

2010 CFL Conference Finals Odds & Predictions

• Toronto Argonauts (10-9) +10.5 vs. Montreal Alouettes (12-6) –10.5

If you look at this match-up on paper the only edge the Argonauts have over the Alouettes is in penalties, which isn’t a stat that you want to be leading in. The linesmakers obviously knew everyone would hammer the Alouettes, which is why they set the point spread at –10.5 at most online sports betting sites. Montreal finished the regular season with a 7-2 home record while the Argonauts were a decent 6-4 on the road.

These two teams have played each other four times this season with the series tied at 2 apiece, although the Argos 2nd victory was in the last week when Montreal wasn’t using their #1 players. There’s no doubt the Argonauts can come into Montreal and beat them on any given day, but I’m not so sure they can do that this weekend. What I do think is that the Argonauts will keep the game close by managing the clock and using Boyd in their game plan a lot. Having +10.5 points in a playoff game is huge in the CFL and I’ll take that many points anytime they’re offered to me in the playoffs.

• Saskatchewan Roughriders (11-8) +6 vs. Calgary Stampeders (13-5) –6

Saskatchewan surprised a lot of people by beating the Lions in the semi-finals and now they need to beat an even tougher team in the Stampeders. I can’t see how the Roughriders are going to win this game although they may be able to keep it within the 6 point spread. Calgary leads the season series at 2-1 and should improve upon that record this weekend. Calgary owns a 7-2 regular season record at home this season while the Roughriders are only 3-6 on the road.

Calgary’s offence is remarkable and even if the Roughriders can get into a shootout with the Stampeders it most likely won’t be enough. Burris has put together solid numbers this season and I know he won’t be happy unless he gets to make an appearance in the Grey Cup this season. Reynolds has also been solid at running back this season for the Stampeders although he’s also received a lot of help from RB Cornish. The Stamps offence ranks 1st in total yards, rushing yards and points scored in the 2010 season while their defence ranks 1st in total yards given up.

I’ll be betting my money on the Argonauts +10.5 to keep the game close and the Stampeders –6 to take care of business at home against the weaker Roughriders squad.
