Chiefs Versus Broncos Week 17 Analysis & Pick

For Denver Broncos fans, this is probably the biggest game since they won the AFC West in 2005. This great football town is dying for a win, and the Chiefs are the only thing standing in their way. Kyle Orton was already hated in Denver, but a Chiefs win might get him lynched.

As much as Kyle Orton would like to spoil the Broncos playoff birth, I think the Denver defense is going to deliver the win. Champ Bailey, Elvis Dumervil, and Von Miller will be animals in this game, limiting the Chiefs to a low scoring day.

The Kansas City Chiefs defense ranks 23rd in the NFL, giving up 126.4 rushing yards per game. If the Broncos go back to playing the way they did a few weeks back, which is run, run, run, they have a chance to pile up the yards and eat up crucial minutes off the clock. Denver leads the NFL with 161.1 rushing ypg, and they’ll be looking for a big day from RB Willis McGahee. Tebow will need to find some rushing room as well, and I think he will.

After last weeks game against the Bills, I expect that head coach Jon Fox will want to limit Tebow’s passing game, giving the Chiefs secondary fewer chances to pick him off. If the Broncos can hold onto the ball this week, they should win this in a low scoring defensive battle.

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs Point Spread

At the time this article is being written, the best Broncos point spread is -3 (-120) at BetOnline.com. BetOnline accepts US bettors, and credit cards for deposits.

The best Kansas City Chiefs point spread is +3 (+105) at JustBet.cx. JustBet also welcomes US customers, and credit cards for funding accounts.

This 3-point spread sounds right to me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this bet returns a push. Do the Chiefs want to play spoiler more than the Broncos want to win the AFC West? I don’t think so. Adrenaline to play the spoiler can fade late in the third or fourth quarters, but the desire to make the playoffs wont. Plus, the 4th quarter is when Tebow Time comes alive, and the home town fans should keep the Broncos motivated all the way to the end. I wouldn’t be shocked to see late mistakes by the Chiefs, while the Broncos could make some big plays.

I’m taking the Broncos -3 (-120) at BetOnline.

Chiefs vs. Broncos Money Line Odds

Right now, the best Broncos money line is -185 at JustBet.cx. The best Chiefs money line is +165 at BetOnline and JustBet.

Late in the season when one team is out of it and the other team is playing to get in, our gut feelings and experience are more important than the stats. My gut is telling me that if the Broncos win, they’ll win by 3+ points. I think the other possibility is that they pass too much and get beaten outright. So, I’m going to stick with my bet on the point spread, and stay away from the money line.

KC Chiefs at Broncos Over/Under Betting Odds

The current Chiefs vs. Broncos over/under is 37.5 on both sides at BetOnline and JustBet.

This over/under is tough to predict, and my range is 14-10 up to 21-17 in this one. Unless something totally unpredictable happens, I don’t see either team scoring more than 21. If the Broncos are primarily running the ball and controlling the clock, the Chiefs could have a bad day. Although the over/under is low, I’m still taking the under.

I’m going to bet the under of 37.5 (-110) at BetOnline. This one could get weird though, so I wouldn’t argue with anyone who disagrees with me.
