New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs Analysis & Prediction

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost their last two games, against the Dolphins and Broncos respectively. For week 11, the Chiefs are on the road to face a much better New England Patriots team. Although they’re only 4-5 overall, the Chiefs are still in the hunt in the AFC West. The Raiders lead at 5-4, the Broncos are 5-5, and the Chargers are 4-5. With that said, the Chiefs face the toughest schedule in the AFC West, so we can safely presume they’re out of it now.

The Patriots whooped the Jets 37-16 in New York last week, giving them sole possession of first place in the AFC East.

There’s really only one question in this game…who will cover the spread? This is a huge spread and I rarely like to bet on a team that is -15. The Chiefs are totally outclassed, but a couple of turnovers either way could be the difference of them covering the spread or not.

I’m going to take the 16 points at BetOnline and hope the KC defense can keep this within 2 touchdowns or less. However, I’m only making a small play on this one, because it’s too hard to predict. Chiefs QB Matt Cassel will be out for this game, giving way to Tyler….wtf is his name? Oh, it says here Tyler Plako, Placco, Palko. Ahh yes, Tyler Palko of course. According to Tedy Bruschi, this guy might not be a total abomination. He claims Palko is a…

“second-year player out of the University of Pittsburgh — 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, 28 years old. He throws left-handed. At Pittsburgh, he beat out Joe Flacco, which sent Flacco to the University of Delaware, where he became a star…

…Palko stayed at Pittsburgh and Dave Wannstedt came in as the new coach, and with that came a different offensive philosophy that didn’t seem to gel with Palko, and Palko went undrafted. He spent some time in New Orleans and Arizona, on practice squads, then the UFL and the CFL. He came back into the league, had a cup of coffee with the Steelers in ’09, and now has had a couple of years with the Chiefs. He’s the son of a coach. His arm strength is average. He does have athletic ability and mobility, but might lock on his first read at times. Overall, this is an unproven player.”

This guy has nothing to lose, and I hope he realizes it. The Chiefs will need him to play like a man out to prove something if they’re going to keep this close.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots Point Spread

Update: The Patriots are now favored by -16 (-110) at BetOnline, and -17 (-120) at Bodog. I don’t like giving up so many points, and I’m hoping the Patriots don’t completely run away with this one. I don’t care who the teams are, they’re both professional football teams and crazy things can happen. I’m taking the Chiefs +17 (-120) at Bodog.com.

If you prefer to give up the points, you can get the Patriots at -16 (-110) at BetOnline or -17 (Even) Bodog.

The spread keeps getting bigger and bigger on this game. The line opened at 13.5 – 14 points at most books, and is up to 16 – 17 as of Sunday night. It’ll be interesting to see how far the line moves before the sharps push it back. My guess is that this is as far as we’ll see it go – but this one is hard to predict.

Patriots vs. Chiefs Money Line

At the time this article is being written, Bodog hasn’t posted their Patriots vs. Chiefs money lines. BetOnline has, with the Chiefs currently at +910, and the Patriots at -1250. I can’t see value in -1250 on the Patriots. I don’t think the Chiefs have a prayer in this one, so I won’t be betting on the money line. If I did, I would take the +910 and hope the Chiefs could cause a few turnovers.

Chiefs vs. Patriots Total (Over/Under) Betting Odds

The current Chiefs vs. Patriots total is 46 (-110) on either side at BetOnline and 46.5 (-110) on either side at Bodog (see chart above for latest over/under odds). This game is too tough to make a prediction on the total, but I think it’s more likely to go over. The Patriots alone could score the majority of the points we need, and since their defense gives up a fair number of points, the Chiefs could easily score 17+.

I’m taking the over, at 46 (-110) at BetOnline.com.
