NY Jets vs Chicago Bears Betting Line

The New York Jets (10-4) travel to the windy city this weekend to play the Chicago Bears (10-4). The Bears have already locked up their division, but they still have a lot to play for this Sunday. If they want a 1st round bye and home-field advantage they need to keep winning games, which means they won’t be sitting any players this weekend. Typically by week 16 there are a couple of teams that can sit players, but that’s not the case so far this season.

New York Jets vs Chicago Bears Free Prediction

There’s no doubt that the New York Jets need this game more than the Chicago Bears do, but that doesn’t mean that the Bears don’t want to win this game. Chicago is still trying to earn a 1st round bye so they’re going to play tough. The Jets should make the playoffs through the wild card, but they could guarantee it with a win on Sunday.

New York has been very impressive on the road this season with a 6-1 record, while the Bears only have a 4-3 record when playing at Soldier Field this season. Typically the Bears are a better home team, but this season they’ve been taking care of business on the road. Both teams are coming off of a win last week, as the Bears beat-up on the Vikings and the Jets slipped away with a tough road victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chicago is ranked near the bottom in every offensive category, but over the past few games Cutler has been doing a much better job (with the exception of the Patriots game). The Bears are one of the few teams in the NFL that isn’t averaging over 100 rushing yards a game and I doubt they’ll break that average this weekend against the Jets 4th ranked rushing defense. If the Bears would like to win this Sunday they’ll need to rely heavily on Cutler to move the ball consistently.

Mark Sanchez is going to play injured this week after suffering a shoulder tear last weekend, so I expect the Jets will try and establish the run from the get go. Chicago boasts the 3rd best rushing defense though, so it isn’t going to be easy for the Jets to run the ball like they’re used too. The Bears defense has been susceptible in the secondary, so if Sanchez needs to pick up a few 1st downs I have faith that he’ll be able too.

This is a huge game for both teams and it’s definitely reflected in the 2 – 2.5 point spread we’re being offered. If this wasn’t such an important game for the Jets, the Bears would likely be giving up another 1 – 1.5 points. I’ll take my chances with the road warrior Jets to come into Soldier Field and win a close, low scoring game.
